Banda Abou and Tera Kora
The half day heads into Banda Abou and Tera Kora, the dry countryside west of Willemstad. Tera Kora means red earth in Papiamentu, and the name fits: the Jeep follows red-dirt tracks across open plains and through cactus fields, with wind turbines and the sea in the distance.
The highlights are underground or in the water: a cave you can swim in, one of the biggest caves on the island to explore, and a natural pool the guides keep secret. The photos from this tour show Kueba di Indjan, its name meaning the cave of the Indians, with daylight falling in from the entrance onto a sandy floor, stalactites, columns and green mineral walls, and guests looking at ancient rock art inside.
Much of the island's coast is old coral limestone, and over time water has hollowed it into caves and overhangs. Between the stops you are in the mondi, as the wild bush is called here: melon cacti, wild plants along the cactus trails, and wild cows grazing near the coast. Photos from the route also show a crab on the rocks at Houtjes Bay and the guide under a huge limestone overhang.
At about four hours, with a morning and an afternoon departure, it leaves the other half of your day free.

Should we choose the half day or the full day?
The half day takes about four hours. The full-day version, about six hours, includes everything in the half day and then goes further along the rugged coast to a blowhole stronger than Shete Boka and tide pools you can swim in.
